Board Member Expectations
All board members are expected of the following:
Responsibilities
Board members should be prepared for varying levels of involvement throughout the year, with increased commitments leading up to major events.
Attend and actively participate in all board meetings
Engage in assigned areas of responsibility, committees, or departments
Support organizational efforts through event participation, funding support outreach, and donor engagement
Assist with planning and executing Lansing Pride programs, events, and initiatives
Represent Lansing Pride positively within the community
Collaborate with fellow board members to advance organizational goals
Time Commitments
Board Meetings: Approximately 2 hours per month
Festival Time Commitment:
Friday, 25 June 2027, as much of the day and evening you can give
Saturday, 26 June 2027, all day
Sunday, 27 June 2027, morning and early afternoon
Friday, 23 June 2028, as much of the day and evening you can give
Saturday, 24 June 2028, all day
Sunday, 25 June 2028, morning and early afternoon
Department/Committee Work: Varies based on role, projects, and time
Event Support: Additional time commitments may be required during festival planning, fundraising campaigns, and special events
Compensation
Board members are not compensated for their time or service

The Director of Festival Entertainment is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all stage entertainment for the annual Pride festival. This role oversees talent selection, performer communication, scheduling, production needs, and day-of entertainment logistics to create an engaging and memorable experience for attendees. The Director works closely with the board, production teams, and festival volunteers to ensure entertainment aligns with the organization’s mission and values. This position will not be eligible to be involved, personally, in any performances during the event.
Preferred skills & qualifications
Experience booking and coordinating live entertainment, performers, or talent
Strong knowledge of event production and festival programming
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with talent
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, contracts, and deadlines
Ability to coordinate with production teams, sound/lighting vendors, and event staff
Creative vision for developing diverse and inclusive entertainment programming
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Experience working with LGBTQ+ performers, artists, or community events is preferred
Ability to collaborate effectively with board members, committees, and external partners

The Board Advisor provides expertise, resources and support to advance the organization’s mission and strategic goals. Advisors serve in a project-based capacity, taking on defined scopes of work that align with their experience, skills, and the organization’s needs. This role provides specialized knowledge, coordination, and support for specific initiatives while collaborating with board leadership and committees to ensure successful outcomes.This is a non-voting position of the Board of Directors and, as such, full board expectations may not apply.
Under the direction of the Director of Signature Events, the Lansing Pride Pageant Advisor oversees the planning and execution of Lansing Pride’s pageant program, helping create a fun, welcoming, inclusive, and professionally organized experience for contestants and attendees. This position coordinates applications, contestant communication, judging, event logistics, and pageant-day activities while working closely with the Lansing Pride Board and volunteers.

Advisors serve in a project-based capacity, taking on defined scopes of work that align with their experience, skills, and the organization’s needs. The Family Zone Advisor supports the Director of Festival Family Zone in the planning and operation of Lansing Pride’s family-friendly area, creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging space for children, parents, caregivers, and families. This position will assist in coordinating activities, volunteers, and logistics while ensuring the Family Zone reflects Lansing Pride’s commitment to community, safety, and inclusion.

The Vendor Coordinator supports Lansing Pride’s vendor program and reports to the Director of Festival Vendors. This position assists in coordinating applications, payments, communications, booth assignments, logistics, and day-of-event support to ensure a smooth and positive vendor experience.
